Different types of salad dressings - Favouring a healthy diet!

 

It’s no news when I say how stressful our lives have become, In this constant while it’s tough to take time out for physical exercises or recreational activities, it’s the healthy food that we can consume to balance it out. I am not going to sell you the wrong notion of how vegetables are tasty and scrumptious, at most it's crunchy, so to make them more savory, It’s imperative for us to use varied salad dressing to enhance the taste and make our dining experience more fulfilling. While there are many recipes out there, I have curated my top 3 which I absolutely love, reason being the taste that it adds to my salad and how easy it is to make them.

  1. Greek yogurt ranch dressing – It can be classified under a type of natural yogurt based dressing. It’s really good for your metabolism and can be consumed with various salads and eatables. It’s rich in protein and healthy fat

For Greek Yogurt Ranch Dressing

        3/4 cup whole milk plain Greek yogurt

        1 clove garlic, finely minced OR 1 teaspoon garlic powder

        1/4 cup fresh minced parsley OR 1 tablespoon dried parsley

        1/4 medium onion, diced (about 2 tablespoons) OR 2 teaspoons onion powder

        2 tablespoons fresh minced chives OR 1 tablespoon dried chives

        1 teaspoon salt

        1/4 teaspoon black pepper

        2 teaspoons dijon mustard

        Juice of 1/2 lemon (about 2 tablespoons)

        1/4 cup—1/2 cup buttermilk

  1. Lemon vinaigrette – It's  impossible to talk about salad dressings and miss vinaigrettes. They are actually an emulsion of flavored vinegar and olive oil in varied proportions with different additives to suit your taste. I like this one because it’s rich in vitamin C and imparts an extremely tangy flavor to other bland or boring vegetables.

For Lemon Vinaigrette Salad Dressing

        1/4 cup red wine vinegar

        2 tablespoons dijon mustard

        1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

        Zest and juice of 1 lemon (about 4 tablespoons juice and 3 teaspoons zest)

        1 clove garlic, finely minced OR 1 teaspoon garlic powder

        1 tablespoon honey

        1 teaspoon salt

        1/4 teaspoon black pepper

        1 tablespoon fresh minced oregano OR 2 teaspoons dried oregano

  1. Honey Mustard – It’s that one salad dressing that makes everything right in an otherwise wrong dish. It’s so full of flavors and is so versatile with its usage that it becomes hard to ignore in every other dish you eat. It's tangy and it's sweet, so works perfectly with kids also. 

For Honey Mustard Salad Dressing

        1/4 cup dijon mustard

        1/4 cup honey

        1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

        1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

        1 teaspoon salt

        1/4 teaspoon black pepper
